We are meeting on the second Monday of the month because the first Monday is Labor Day the the Library is closed.

Join us Monday, October 5, at 6:30 at the James City County Library, 7770 Croaker Rd., Williamsburg, VA. Our speaker for Monday, October 5, will be Lynda Richardson—a name many of you will recognize. Now retired, Lynda was the creative force behind the exceptional Virginia Wildlife Magazine, shaping its photography and visual storytelling for many years.
Lynda will be our special guest for the evening and will talk with us about photo contests. She’ll offer tips, tricks, do’s and don’ts, and insights drawn from decades of selecting just the right images for publication. A seasoned wildlife photojournalist, Lynda brings more than 30 years of experience capturing compelling stories about the natural world and our relationship with it. Her work has appeared in Smithsonian, National Wildlife, The Nature Conservancy, and many other respected publications, reflecting her unique perspective and deep expertise.
We’re in for a terrific program—one filled with knowledge, inspiration, and the kind of practical guidance photographers truly appreciate.

Join us Monday, May 4, at the James City County Library, 7770 Croaker Rd., Williamsburg, at 6:30. Billy Dobson will be our guest speaker. “I’ll discuss my expedition to Kenya last year to try to capture some out of the ordinary images. Rather than repeating past efforts, I decided to attempt to place remotely operated cameras along the game trails and try my luck from a distance. I’ll review the planning, risks, challenges and consequences of taking this approach. One of the consequences, which was captured on video, was the total destruction of a Nikon camera. I’ll go over the camera settings used, the photographic success rate, and share some of the images captured, both good and disastrous. Hope to see you there!”
